Fold it in Mini-Album

With Nico of to the “zwarte cross” festival ( a mix between a music festival and dirtbike races)  last weekend I had the whole weekend to myself. Of course I had way to many things I wanted to do..
One of those things was to finally make a fold it in mini-album.
I won the workshop, made by Kristin from http://rukristin.com/blog/, in a give-away on the nerd nest blog some time ago. But as usual Life got in the way of crafting.

But with all my "free" time I had this weekend I finally got round to making  one.
As I commented in the give-away I wanted to make my first one about the dogtraining we are doing with our deaf Bull terriër; Abby.
So I had Nico take some pictures during training. I had them printed out  few weeks ago.
The next step was “shopping” in my scrap-material stash. I’m a bit new to the whole scrapbooking-thing. I discovered a desperate shortage in embellishments and not even that much cute papers.
( I have to say the stuff you can easily get here in Holland isn’t that cute). So some supply-shopping will have to be done..soon..
But I did manage to get some stuff together.

With the instructions right there on my computer screen it was quite easy to do.
I can defently reccomend this workshop!!
 I worked untill late in the night to get the basic structure done.**Not that it really took that long. I just started really late in the evening** And saved the embellishing for the next day.
The finished product came out like this:

I used pictures taken during the course and made copies of the doggie-handsign book we have.

These show what handsignal we use for which command. And also tells a bit how we tought it to her.

What I’ve learned for next time:
* expand my stash!!!
* use a paper without structure for the binding.
* don’t forget a damp towel for whiping of the glue on the binding
*use a thicker paper for the back and front cover..

But I’m still very happy with how it came out.

Summer has arrived..

We’re already halfway through my summer vacation but the summer-weather only arrived a few days ago. With temperatures around the 25 /30 degrees all I do is trying to stay cool.

Wich means staying indoors during the afternoon heat and taking the dogs out for their walks early in the morning and in the evening when it’s cooler.  In the afternoon we only do a small round around the block.

The dogs are also suffering from the heat. Abby doesn’t want to walk at all. And Keyser hobbels along for a small walk. But mostly they just lounge around and take long naps.

The weather also means I am way behind on my summer projects. 
First of all I am way behind on my Find your Voice project. I have filled out the worksheets up to week 4. But I’m having a hard time with the prompts.  I have lots of ideas about what to do but my inner critic and prefectionist is telling me I can’t do it. And frankly at the moment it’s too hot to tell him to shut up.
I’m printing out lesson 5 later tonight so I am keeping up with the worksheets. And taking notes of all the ideas that pop into my head so I don’t lose them. 

Secondly I’m just not getting around to finishing up all sorts of “little” projects I have been saving up to do in my vacation. Still on my creative to do-list:

 * make a fold it in album of Abby’s  doggie trainng.
* finish  my “lines” album
* make some stamps; I promised to make a stamp for a friend and also want to make some for myself. The materials finally arrived so I could start…
* Sew some new hammocks for the rats
* I need to shut up my inner critic and get started with the prompts from Find your Voice.

But sadly my creative to-do list is often pushed aside by my other to-do list. The one that includes vacuming, doing the dishes, an endless amount of laundry and other small household tasks.

How do you keep your creative goals from being overrun by your daily tasks??

HI!!!

My name is Janine. I am 29 years old and live together with my boyfriend, our two dogs Keyser and Abby  and our 2 rats Budda and Shiva in a house in Hoorn in the Netherlands.
I trained as a teacher but quickly found out I didn’t like the school-culture. It leaves very little room for creativity. Currently I work as a homework cousellor and a few hours a week I do some housekeeping for elderly people.
Wich leaves ample room for hobbies. Of which there is a long list that includes; photography, journal keeping, scrapbooking, stamp making, drawing, painting…
I also love to read, have coffee at my favorite coffeplace, go to the beach, go shopping (but not for clothes), try new crafts, sleep in late, go to the movies and many more things. 

About our dogs:
Keyser is an 11 year old Dogo Argentino  male. We adopted him from a shelter in Zaandam.
 He is very lazy and loves to snuggleand takes long naps.
 But also loves his walks in the forrest or on the beach.

Abby is an 19 month old mini Bull Terriër. She was adopted from a shelter in Balkbrug.
She is still very young and in training. To complicate matters she is also deaf. So we’re teaching her to respond to handsignals.  She is a very happy and bouncy little bundle of energy who is most happy to just snuggle with you on the couch.
