This week I am doing my first ever week in the life project.
This chalenge designed by Ali Edwards challenges you to document your life and capture the little details.

A bit later as planned but this was Tuesday.

Good Moring!!

Filling out the paperwork for "week in the life"
You can download them HERE.

because I'm the person who is mostly at home houshold chores fall mostly on me... So I should be doing the dishes but I really can't get myself to do them..
No we still don't have a dishawasher. I would love to have one. But it would mean I have to sacrifice 3 big drawers in the kitchen. And we need all the storagespace we can get. But when it's time for a new kitchen the first thing we'll do is buy a dishwasher.

Fall had really arrived.. So I try to walk the dogs inbetween rainshowers.. Sadly I wasn't very succesfull today so we had to find some shelter..
Keyser doesn't like rain...

Enroute to work. With the crappy weather I felt like a cup of tea..

I took the bus to the station today because my bike was still in Enkhuizen. So I was early and had time for some shopping. I always end up browsing "Action" All of their stuff is super cheap.
I bought these 2 balls of yarn for 0.59 cents each. Love the neon colors!!
And found these cute stickers; perfecht for my upcoming December Daily album. And at only 0.79 cents each I couldn't leave them there..

I found this bottle of nailpolish at the bottom of my bag.. Not quite shure if I like the color.....

Afternoon essentials: Lots of tea and cookies "stroopwafels"te be precice...

And: blog planning.
I printed out these cute planning-pages from imperfecthomemaking.com
Best of all.. they where FREE!

Also on my to do list this afternoon: uploading all of the photo's from yesterday.

WHOOHOO!! 18.00 time to go home!

more fall-weather..

Do you see that box with the blue lid on the dashboard?
That contained my dinner: andijviestamppot with meatballs..
Because we have dog-school on tuesday my boyfriend picks my up at the station, and I eat my dinner in the car on our way.
** Nico cooks whenever I work.. so that's most weekdays =)

Thats me and Abby.. the exercise was to get the dog to walk backwards.
Abby had a very hard time with that..

back home; time to veg out on the couch and watch tv. On tonight.. nothing much. Just some random fliping through the channels..

22.40: bed-time

More tomorrow!!

Week in the life.

This week I am doing my first ever week in the life project.
This chalenge designed by Alie Edwards challenges you to document your life and capture the little details.

On my someday/maybe list is doing a project life. But with a tiny craft-budget. And not being good at finishing projects I've started this isn't going to happen at the moment.
So I'll first have a go at this "week in the life". As a kind of mini-project life.

I'll be posting my pictures from the day before right here on the blog (eek! I still can't believe I actually started a blog) And the goal is to make a project life-style album at the end of the week..

So here we go!!

Monday
After waking up first on the program: taking a shower. It is essential to my waking up routine

Next up; after getting dressed ofcourse, walking the dogs..

After their breakfast time for some cuddles. Aby took up residence in one of the dogbeds and Keyser is still deciding where to go..

My own breakfast consists of muesli with goatsyoghurt and checking facebook, my email and instagram on my phone

Also on my phone; whatsapping with the boyfriend. This happens throughout the day..

Abby decided she needed more snuggles and jumped on my chair right behind me...

Yes even more suggles... After doing some chores time for a cup of tea in front of the tv..

en route to work. I have a small folding bycicle which I can take with me on the train.

Waiting for the train to Enkhuizen. Which ofcourse is late.. as usual..

My workplace...

taking notes...

very unusual: having dinner at work. This is some leftover curry with calliflower from yesterday. Normally I have dinner at home but we ( a collegue and me) are doing some promotional stuff this evening ...

After handing out flyers I catch a ride with my collegue back home.

No plans for the rest of the evening so Keyser and I snuggled up in front of the TV watching "CSI New York" and "Bones"

the weather today was awefull and fall has defenetly arrived. So I made some nice hot chocolate for myself =)

And that's it for today.. Time for bed.

See you tomorrow!

Fold it in Mini-Album

With Nico of to the “zwarte cross” festival ( a mix between a music festival and dirtbike races)  last weekend I had the whole weekend to myself. Of course I had way to many things I wanted to do..
One of those things was to finally make a fold it in mini-album.
I won the workshop, made by Kristin from http://rukristin.com/blog/, in a give-away on the nerd nest blog some time ago. But as usual Life got in the way of crafting.
But with all my "free" time I had this weekend I finally got round to making  one.
As I commented in the give-away I wanted to make my first one about the dogtraining we are doing with our deaf Bull terriër; Abby.
So I had Nico take some pictures during training. I had them printed out  few weeks ago.
The next step was “shopping” in my scrap-material stash. I’m a bit new to the whole scrapbooking-thing. I discovered a desperate shortage in embellishments and not even that much cute papers.
( I have to say the stuff you can easily get here in Holland isn’t that cute). So some supply-shopping will have to be done..soon..
But I did manage to get some stuff together.

With the instructions right there on my computer screen it was quite easy to do.
I can defently reccomend this workshop!!
I worked untill late in the night to get the basic structure done.**Not that it really took that long. I just started really late in the evening** And saved the embellishing for the next day.
The finished product came out like this:

I used pictures taken during the course and made copies of the doggie-handsign book we have.
These show what handsignal we use for which command. And also tells a bit how we tought it to her.

What I’ve learned for next time:
* expand my stash!!!
* use a paper without structure for the binding.
* don’t forget a damp towel for whiping of the glue on the binding
*use a thicker paper for the back and front cover..

But I’m still very happy with how it came out.

Summer has arrived..

We’re already halfway through my summer vacation but the summer-weather only arrived a few days ago. With temperatures around the 25 /30 degrees all I do is trying to stay cool.
Wich means staying indoors during the afternoon heat and taking the dogs out for their walks early in the morning and in the evening when it’s cooler.  In the afternoon we only do a small round around the block.

The dogs are also suffering from the heat. Abby doesn’t want to walk at all. And Keyser hobbels along for a small walk. But mostly they just lounge around and take long naps.

The weather also means I am way behind on my summer projects.
First of all I am way behind on my Find your Voice project. I have filled out the worksheets up to week 4. But I’m having a hard time with the prompts.  I have lots of ideas about what to do but my inner critic and prefectionist is telling me I can’t do it. And frankly at the moment it’s too hot to tell him to shut up.

I’m printing out lesson 5 later tonight so I am keeping up with the worksheets. And taking notes of all the ideas that pop into my head so I don’t lose them.

Secondly I’m just not getting around to finishing up all sorts of “little” projects I have been saving up to do in my vacation. Still on my creative to do-list:
 * make a fold it in album of Abby’s  doggie trainng.
* finish  my “lines” album
* make some stamps; I promised to make a stamp for a friend and also want to make some for myself. The materials finally arrived so I could start…
* Sew some new hammocks for the rats
* I need to shut up my inner critic and get started with the prompts from Find your Voice.

But sadly my creative to-do list is often pushed aside by my other to-do list. The one that includes vacuming, doing the dishes, an endless amount of laundry and other small household tasks.
How do you keep your creative goals from being overrun by your daily tasks??

HI!!!

My name is Janine. I am 29 years old and live together with my boyfriend, our two dogs Keyser and Abby  and our 2 rats Budda and Shiva in a house in Hoorn in the Netherlands.
I trained as a teacher but quickly found out I didn’t like the school-culture. It leaves very little room for creativity. Currently I work as a homework cousellor and a few hours a week I do some housekeeping for elderly people.
Wich leaves ample room for hobbies. Of which there is a long list that includes; photography, journal keeping, scrapbooking, stamp making, drawing, painting…
I also love to read, have coffee at my favorite coffeplace, go to the beach, go shopping (but not for clothes), try new crafts, sleep in late, go to the movies and many more things.

About our dogs:
Keyser is an 11 year old Dogo Argentino  male. We adopted him from a shelter in Zaandam.
He is very lazy and loves to snuggleand takes long naps.
But also loves his walks in the forrest or on the beach.

Abby is an 19 month old mini Bull Terriër. She was adopted from a shelter in Balkbrug.
She is still very young and in training. To complicate matters she is also deaf. So we’re teaching her to respond to handsignals.  She is a very happy and bouncy little bundle of energy who is most happy to just snuggle with you on the couch.
